The phenomenal Liberian composer, arranger and singer, Peter Cole, who is based in Senegal, West Africa will perform at UNIBOA’s 2009 Convention. The 19th National Convention will convene in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania from May 22nd through May 24th under the leadership of Mr. Benedict Roberts.
Peter Cole hails from Gbarnga, Bong County, Liberia, where he began singing and playing multiple musical instruments in his church at an earlier age. He is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Nagbe Barchue Cole of Gbarnga. Peter’s parents themselves were natural musicians who sang in the local Methodist Church in Gbarnga City, Bong County.
Peter’s active participations in the church and singing prepared and interested him to develop his music career that has taken him abroad. Peter had toured five European countries which covered France, England, Switzerland, Holland and Belgium to raise funds for the education of the children of refugees. He was also the contributor of three songs on the United Nation High Commission for Refugee’s CD, “UNHCR Building Bridges”.
Peter Cole's appearance will be the second time UNIBOA had showcased talented major musicians at its national conventions. The first was the popular Bassa Musician, Sundaygar Dearboy in Woonsocket, Rhode Island in 2007. UNIBOA hope to continue this trend in bringing our own Liberian artists to its major gatherings.
Peter will be bringing copies of his latest two CDs and DVDs. He will also showcase some of his music videos during his performances at the convention. The price per CD is US $10.00 and $15.00 per DVD.
Eventually, after his performance at UNIBOA’s convention, Peter may be touring other cities in the US, which includes Minnesota this summer.
